The TabuToys Guide to Shaving Pubic Hair
Thinking about going bare? Shaving your pubic hair is a little trickier than shaving your legs or underarms, but it can be safe and easy with just a little preparation. And, if your partner wants to lend a helping hand it can be its own arousing form of foreplay!
Start by taking a warm bath. The water will soften the skin and relax the hair follicles. Then, apply a intimate shaving cream to the vaginal area. Massage it in thoroughly! You’ll need to let it penetrate for at least 5-10 minutes to soften coarse pubic hair. If you simply want a “Landing Strip” you can just target the bikini line. If you prefer to go “Full Brazilian” route, you’ll need to apply your shaving gel to the labia, around the vulva and, yes, the taint.
Make sure you’re in a good position. Some women prefer to lean back in the tub with knees bent, others prefer to stand in the shower with one leg on the edge of the tub. You can even bring a hand mirror in to get a better look at your handiwork.
When you’re ready to shave, always use a new, high-quality razor. (A dull razor is a one-way pass to Nicktown.) On your first strokes, go in the direction of hair growth, and then reverse. Take it slow! You don’t have to go over the same area too many times- this can be irritating. Stretch your skin to help reach difficult areas and rinse in between strokes so hair won’t clog up the blade.
When you’re finished, rinse your vaginal area thoroughly (you don’t want stray hairs in your vulva) and then pat dry with a towel. If you’re worried about redness or razor rash, you can apply a soothing ingrown hair preventative. Now, go and admire your fresh new look!
